Need a good method for cleaning smudges from glossy photos?

I recently installed a large display of glossy prints on gatorboard. Some of the prints have fingerprint smudges which only became apparent under the gallery lights. Is there a good way to remove the smudges without damaging the prints?

I'd try to carefully dab the greasy spots with an ammonia solution soaked cotton swab.

Edwal Anti-Stat Film Cleaner is a standard that has been around for some time. Others are available also... check B & H for film cleaner solutions.

Lighter fluid - cheap and it works...of if you want to spend money go for Scotch Clean Art

I normally use a microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints when framing - no chemicals.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try that lighter fluid recommendation. I would never have thought of that, but it sounds interesting. I already tried the dry microfiber, but it only seemed to smear the smudges a little. It wouldn't actually lift it.

Like Zippo lighter fluid? I'm amazed that it works without damaging the print in some way. When I used to carry my zippo the thing would leak on me and irritate my skin to no end.

Don't even spend the extra money on getting the Zippo stuff, any lighter fluid will do :0)
May be it irritating because it was removing the grease from yer skin and drying it out? just a thought :0)
